We recently took Mandy on a day trip to the Ravine Gardens State Park in Palatka. It's about a 70 mile drive through the North-central part of Florida. Palatka is located along the St. Johns River. Developed in 1933-34 to spur economic recovery of the city during the Great Depression it is an example of American rustic architecture style. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.Much of the 146 acre park is the natural vegetation surrounding the ravine. Not your usual flat Florida ground. There are two suspension bridges (Mandy did not care for them) crossing the ravine and several trails along the creek.
About five acres of the park are formal gardens with stone terraces and water features. Here's Linda and Mandy checking them out.Included on the grounds this obelisk dedicated to President F.D. Roosevelt.
Of course when you are in Palatka around lunch time it's a must to go to the oldest diner in Florida. Angie's Diner in downtown Palatka has been serving up meals for a about a hundred years. We had their famous hamburgers, french fries and onion rings. This is Ron coming to the van with the take-out delicacies. Mandy had her own snacks for lunch but was very interested in
the burgers!!

wow, love that place... looks beautiful and Mandy is now a full blown DOG.... where did the puppy go? boy, they grow up fast don't they?
