26.2 with Donna

The first annual 26.2 Marathon Run with Donna to fight breast cancer was held today on the beaches of Jacksonville. The weather was pretty warm in the low 70's for most of the race. The race is co-sponsored with the Mayo Clinic and 100% of the race revenues go to research a cure or to care for breast cancer patients. Over 7000 runners were expected for the race. Included in the race were two of the Orum Racing Team. Called "Fasties" by several of their team mates and other runners. Both Stephanie Orum and Amy Orum finished the race. The course starts and ends at the Mayo Clinic twice goes over the Intracoastal Bridge through several beach towns included a stretch along the Atlantic Ocean beach. I will have pictures of the Orum runners posted in the PM. To see more about the event you can log onto breastcancermarathon.com a web site dedicated to the race.

Getting read to go to the Marathon and cheer for their Mother is part of the process. First one must be properly attired and tatooed. Then for the big race it's really better to stay over-night at Grandma's house eat a big breakfast and bike to the race. Many observers were pretty impressed by the Orum G-Girls and their father. They also cheered on Amy until they got to the point of telling their father he was embarassing them. Also it helps to have some crazy runner friends like Steph's running buddies in their tutus. Sorry these pictures are a bit out of order but I can't seem to get them organized. Congratulations to our Orum Family "Stars"!!
